Today's featured vendor is Valerie Keating of Old Soul Designs!

I discovered Valerie while looking for vintage sellers on Etsy, and fell in love with some of her pieces! She has a great eye for design and very clever ideas on how to re-vamp old windows, wooden shutters, and pre-loved furniture into something spectacular! You can visit her Etsy store HERE, and be sure to look for her at our show on May 24th. Just a reminder, that most of the pieces that will be for sale at the show are one of a kind, so if you see something you love, you better snatch it up...or someone else will beat you to it! Welcome to the show, Valerie!

Some news for Thursday...

Hello everyone! Two announcements for today...

1st, I am no longer accepting any more jewelry vendors for the May 24th show, as I want to have a large variety of different items available to the shoppers. As with most art & craft shows, there are always more jewelry artisans applying than other categories.

2nd, If you have filled out an online application and have not yet mailed payment & your signed contract, please try to do so by April 1st. I am starting to map out the show, and also need to know actual numbers of vendors at this
                                              point.

Thanks! Hope everyone has a great Thursday! I am having a painting weekend. Currently working on a vintage desk, have a few smaller cabinets, a bench, and a few other things to dig into.

Meet Jaci Swarts, another one of the fun artists at the Funky Art & Vintage Mart

When you see one of Jaci Swart's mixed media paintings, your heart feels a little bit happier. I have to admit, I am addicted to quotes, and I love the combination of Jaci's whimsical girl portraits with words of wisdom. She makes many other things, in addition to her original painted art pieces, including wooden collaged bracelets, artist trading cards, art from found objects, and fairy jars.
We are so thrilled to have Jaci join us! Visit her "Simple Plaisirs" booth at the show, and take home something sure to make you smile!

Today's Featured Vendor is Trina Hodge of Berry Willow Designs!

I admit, I am addicted to checking the "antique" and "furniture" section daily, in our local Craigslist for the Treasure Coast area. It was here that I found Trina one day, and after seeing her colorful pieces of painted vintage furniture, I knew she would be perfect for the show! Tina upcycles pieces, and paints vintage, modern, and custom designed furniture. Here are two pieces of hers that I love....especially the turquoise/seafoam piece! I am such a sucker for COLOR! Let's welcome Tina to our show! If you want to see more, please be sure to stop by her booth at the Funky Art & Vintage Mart on May 24th. I can't wait to see what she brings!

Today's featured vendor is Mary Callaghan of Garden Trinkets!

Spring just started (although it is always gardening season here in Florida) and your mind might be turning toward "pretty-ing up" your yard. I came across Mary's creations on Etsy, and immediately invited her to join the show. She repurposes vintage or discarded glass and ceramic dishes, bowls, etc. into lovely works of art to display in your outdoor oasis. They sparkle in the sun and add a beautiful touch to your yard or garden, and would look great in groups! She also makes bird baths, which my resident mockingbirds and cardinals enjoy, especially during our hot months.
Make sure to look for her at the show! She will probably have the sparkly-est booth! Welcome to the show Mary! We look forward to seeing your beautiful "garden trinkets!"

Vintage luggage ideas

Some of my favorite vintage finds, are things which look cool AND are useful. If I can put something in it, or use it for a purpose it was not designed for, it will usually speak to me and say, "Bring me home with you!"
I adore old trunks and chests, but I also have a soft spot for vintage luggage. I have a fun set of vintage Samsonite pieces in a vibrant orange, and one in grass green, that I got at great steals. I, personally, like to make them into cat beds, as my two cats were always trying to get cozy in our suitcases whenever we were packing for vacation. Now, their luggage beds are some of their favorite sleeping spots. I found two other creative examples that I wanted to share with you. The first was found on trendhunter and is a bathroom wall vanity. What a perfect place for your man to put all of his cologne, razors, and other manly things!
The second idea was found on Pinterest, but the link to the original post no longer worked. This would be so cute at the entrance to your home, at a bon-voyage party, a housewarming party, or a wedding. So many uses! It you make the frame into a chalkboard, you can change it up for multiple occasions.
What cool ideas do you have for vintage luggage finds? I'd love to hear them!

Today's featured artist is Elisa Gomez of Committed Jewelry!

The handcrafted jewelry of Elisa Gomez of Committed Jewelry made me swoon AND smile when I first saw it, and I knew she would be a great addition to our show! Let's give her a warm welcome to the Funky Art & Vintage Mart! I can't wait to see what goodies she brings to sell! Her website is www.committedjewelry.com if you would like to see more of her work. The Venue

Here are some shots of the covered barn where the event will take place. The sides are panels that can be lifted up or down and it will be tidied up before the show. There is also a large grassy area where food vendors will set up, and restrooms...just couldn't get them in the same shot. If, perchance we exceed the 10,000 sq ft under the covered barn, there is room for tents to be put up in the grassy area.

Booth display ideas

A big part of selling at an antique show or art fair, is having an interesting and functional display that best showcases your items. This is where you need to sometimes think "outside of the box."  Put on your creative thinking cap, and take a peek at these two pictures I found on Pinterest. Wood crates are a fun way to display your items. You can stack them like shelves, or use them to house things, like art prints, old records, antique photographs, and more. You can find real vintage crates, or you can buy the unfinished wood ones at a craft store like Michael's or AC Moore, and stain them. Here are some pictures for inspiration!

Today's featured Vendor..... Migdalia

Between now and the show on May 24th, I will be showcasing each of our fabulous vendors! Today's featured vendor is Migdalia. She makes really hip upcycled bags with her appliqué dolls on them. She also sells prints, originals, pillows, stickers and tanks tops with her drawings. Welcome to the show Migdalia! We can't wait to see the cool pieces your bring to sell at the show! Here are some pics of her work... Click Here to visit her Facebook Fan Page.
